Surprise Defeated by Amarillo, 6-4
|
The Amarillo Warheads trumped the Surprise Shockers, 6-4, at Ballpark of Henderson. Amarillo right fielder Cullen Thompson was terrific. He went 3 for 4 with 2 triples and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Bob Smith wrapped it up, recording his 10th save. With the win, the Warheads improved to 29-52.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Warheads grabbed the lead when Micah Goater rapped a two-out home run. Amarillo was trailing 3-1, when Goater hit a grand slam home run off Yuan-zhang Jiao to put his team in front, 5-3.
Amarillo manager José López commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
