Warheads Clip Puffer Fish, 1-0
|
Juan De La Rosa never let the Puffer Fish get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Warheads to a win, 1-0. De La Rosa, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Bob Smith earned the save, his 2nd in 4 tries.
The Warheads got a big at-bat from designated hitter James Payton. For the game, Payton was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Amarillo a 1-0 lead.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Payton.
The 5th-place Warheads have won 7 straight.
