Beavers Top Canucks, 11-5
|
The Ballard Beavers outlasted the Moose Jaw Canucks, 11-5, in 12 innings. Marc Maron played a key role, going 3-for-5 for Ballard. Now 2-17, the 2062 Canucks have been wretched so far.
Joe Hoffman was 1 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Ballard. The 19-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the 12th. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Nobuyoki Nii. It was his 4th walk of the season.
Hoffman expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
