Flanderses Earn Late Win
|
The Hudsonville Flanderses scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Northwest Territory Beavers at Beaver Town. Hudsonville pitcher Gary Dyer held his own in the contest. Hudsonville reliever Lawrence Walker picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Arturo Santos was tagged with the loss. Fred Scott recorded his 3rd save for Hudsonville.
Hudsonville used the timely hitting of Juan Flores to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Flanderses on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Flores.
The 6th-place Flanderses lifted their record to 40-43.
