Pandas Lose to Lakers, 11-9
|
Montana left fielder Ricardo Cantú had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Cantú went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, even as Echo Park beat the Pandas, 11-9. The win was credited to Barry Davis in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Javier Rúbio took the loss. Brendan Fulton locked down his 13th save.
Had Arthur Cantrell not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Cantrell hit a 2-run single. That made the score 11-9, in favor of the Lakers.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Cantrell told the Echo Park Daily News.
The Lakers, at 26-17, lead by one game in their division.
