Surprise parlayed a decent outing from starter Gustavo Martínez into a solid win over the Shady Side Zoomies. The final score was 5-4. The 7th-place Shockers lifted their record to 39-45.

Pedro Rey found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the ninth. Facing Shady Side hurler Richard Roche, the 19-year-old designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly. His 37th RBI of the season put the Shockers on top, 5-4.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Shady Side manager Ralph Gilbert.
