Philadelphia Hot Streak Continues with 7-4 Win
|
Philadelphia third baseman Dan Cook made his presence felt in the 7-4 Liberty U-21 triumph over the Amarillo Warheads. Cook was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Picking up the win was Bob McCormick. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 0. Robbie de Groot recorded the save for Philadelphia, his 15th of the season.
With Philadelphia leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Cook came up to bat against Amarillo pitcher Matthew Hamm. Cook hit a fastball to right-center for a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season put the Liberty U-21 on top, 4-0.
"It feels good to get this one," Cook told the Philadelphia Gazette.
This win makes it 7 in a row for Philadelphia.
