Ducks Fall to Octopi Late
|
In a tight contest at Nebraska Aquarium, the Ogallala Octopi edged the Long Island Ducks by the score of 6-5 in 10 innings. Ogallala right fielder Henry Hayes, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Ogallala reliever Taki Ohayashi picked up the win to move to 1-0. George Louis suffered the loss. The win elevated the Octopi to 13-9.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 19-year old catcher Tom Milsom had a chance to be the hero. Long Island pitcher Manny Rodríguez wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Milsom drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Octopi had themselves a thrilling win.
"This place was electric at the end," Hayes said.
