Losing Trend Continues for Ellesmere Island
|
The Greenport Harbor Whales and Ellesmere Island Snowpeople played an exciting game.
Greenport Harbor Whales starter Simon Meilaart turned in an exceptional performance against the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople at Ballpark of Robbins, resulting in a Greenport win, 3-2. Meilaart got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Earning his 5th save for Greenport was Rafael Fernández.
The Harbor Whales got a big at-bat from first baseman Rory Carr. For the game, Carr was 1-3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Greenport a 3-2 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Greenport manager Mike Brown. "It's usually not just one thing."
Ellesmere Island's current losing streak has reached 13 games.
