Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople and Greenport Harbor Whales.

Greenport got a valiant performance from pitcher José Gonzáles, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople. Ellesmere Island won the game, 4-2. Gonzáles threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The save went to Gabriel Gómez, his 2nd this season.

Ellesmere Island used the timely hitting of Adri Olthuis to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Snowpeople on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It feels good to get this one," Olthuis told the Ellesmere Island Bulletin.

Ellesmere Island, with the win, climbs to 6-17.
