Gators Send Long Island Home with 2-1 Loss
|
North Ft. Myers right-hander Bart Blenkiron helped his team edge Long Island by the score of 2-1. Blenkiron kept the opposing lineup in check. Blenkiron got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. John Christensen earned his 8th save, after closing out the game.
Second Baseman Steven Dillon made an impact for North Ft. Myers, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Jesús Hernández in the top of the fourth. For the contest, Dillon was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles.
"Tough loss," said Long Island manager Cody Blackburn. "This one will sting for a while."
With the victory, the Gators upped their record to 13-11.
