Harbor Whales Squelch Snowpeople Offense in Shutout Win
In a low-scoring contest between the Greenport Harbor Whales and the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, Martino Salazar, who is tied for 10th in the 3A- in strikeouts with 29, proved to be the difference. The Greenport left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Harbor Whales win. The winner was Salazar. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Edward Margaret. The win elevated the Harbor Whales to 16-9.

Maurice van Berkel had a big run-scoring double for the Harbor Whales in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Greenport leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Edward Margaret, who is tied for 8th in the 3A- in innings pitched with 36.1, and swatted a double to center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Harbor Whales ahead, 2-0.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said van Berkel.
