Win Lifts Sea Dogs to 51-42
|
Maine Sea Dogs starter Tae-kyun Hong was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 4-1. Hong, now 7-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Earning the save was Roy Harris. He's now cashed in 4 of 6 save opportunities.
The Snowpeople had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Sea Dogs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old third baseman Kenny Peterson came to the plate. Peterson hit a bases-clearing double on a first pitch fastball from Ellesmere Island hurler Hai-feng Zhu. It was Peterson's 2nd double of the year.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Hong. "Successful pitchers do it."
The third-place Sea Dogs lifted their record to 51-42.
