Matthews Leads Beavers to Win
The Northwest Territory Beavers beat the Memphis Music, 8-6, at Beaver Town. The win was due in part to second baseman Bob Matthews, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Marcus Thomas picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 10-4. The Beavers improved to a lofty 66-28.

Matthews contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Northwest Territory in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Matthews took a curveball from Augusto Jaimes and stroked the home run to right. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Beavers to leap in front, 3-1.

"We came out aggressive," said Beavers manager Robert Acker. "We came out swinging the bats."
