Shockers Sneak By Liberty U-21, 2-1
|
The Surprise Shockers, behind a great outing from Jimmy Cooper, who is tied for 10th in the SA- with a 7.1 K/9 rate, defeated the Philadelphia Liberty U-21, 2-1, at Shockers Field. The winner was Eisse Mouwen in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Martín Machado took the loss. The 7th-place Shockers have won 5 in a row.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 20-year old first baseman Nick Chamberlain had a chance to be the hero. Philadelphia pitcher Martín Machado wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Chamberlain hit a sacrifice fly. The Shockers had themselves a thrilling win.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Chamberlain.
