Ellesmere Island got a terrific performance from pitcher Miguel Izabel, but it wasn't enough to beat the Greenport Harbor Whales. Greenport won the Ballpark of Robbins contest, 5-2. Izabel threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Martino Salazar, now 4-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The current losing streak for Ellesmere Island has reached 4 games.
Greenport won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Charles Siddorn on the mound for Ellesmere Island, center fielder King Large hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Harbor Whales fans to their feet.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Large said.
