Surprise Topples Ladue, 3-1
The Surprise Shockers and Ladue Rams played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The bats were silent much of the day at Shockers Field. But 20-year old third baseman Jorge Alemán produced just enough offense to carry the Shockers past the Ladue Rams, 3-1. Alemán was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Bruce Williams snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2.2 innings. He's now 5-2 on the season. Ángelo Torres picked up the save for Surprise, his 7th of the year.

Had Alemán not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Alemán hit a 2-run home run. The Shockers took the lead, 3-1, and never looked back.

"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Alemán.

By defeating Ladue, the 4th-place Shockers improved to 52-44.
