The Ballard Beavers locked up a win at Ballpark of Wellsville, knocking off the Ladue Rams, 5-2. On the mound for Ballard was left-hander Bruce Campbell. He played a major role in the triumph. Milton Fisher sewed up the save, his 9th. The defeat makes Ladue 13-16.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from center fielder Roy Hill. For the game, Hill went 1-5 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Ballard a 3-1 lead.
"Bruce throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Ballard manager Giddy Potts.
