Canucks Suffer 5-1 Road Loss
|
Edward Margaret, who is tied for 5th in the 3A- in strikeouts with 38, never let the Canucks get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Snowpeople to a win, 5-1. In 7 innings, Margaret surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Ellesmere Island, now 7-23, holds down last place in the Menard's Low A.
The Canucks had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Snowpeople going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old center fielder Wayne Graham came to the plate. Graham hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 fastball from Moose Jaw hurler Danny Crabtree. It was Graham's 6th double of the year.
"Edward was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Ellesmere Island manager Rodrige Margalha.
