Harbor Whales Shut Out Baby Blues, 4-0
|
Greenport pitcher Xie-li Kun had a large part in his team beating the Quebec City Baby Blues, 4-0. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Kun yielded no runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2. The 8th-place Harbor Whales have a record of 15-16.
Greenport second baseman Jong-your Chu contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a splitter to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 40th hit of the season and put the Harbor Whales ahead, 1-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Chu said.
