Express Earn 4-3 Win Versus Baby Blues
|
The Napanee Express picked up a win at Dylan Park, dropping the Quebec City Baby Blues, 4-3, in 10 innings. Vincent Wood, who is tied for 5th in the 3A- in innings pitched with 46.2, was the difference-maker. Napanee reliever Scott Bates picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Carl van Bekenes was tagged with the loss. Scot Dixon locked down his 1st save.
Napanee used the timely hitting of Jim Henry to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Express on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Express manager Dan Bond.
Napanee is now 18-14, while Quebec City is 15-17.
