With first baseman Windle Poons leading the charge, the Ballard Beavers defeated the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 8-5, at The Igloo. Poons, who is tied for 3rd in the 3A- with a .430 on-base percentage, went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The Beavers are now 18-15, while the Snowpeople fall to 13-20.

Joe Hoffman had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the second for Ballard. With the bases loaded and the Beavers leading 1-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Giddy Potts said.
