The Greenport Harbor Whales rode a solid performance from 18-year-old starting pitcher Dan McFarland to a win, beating the Long Island Ducks, 3-1, at Ballpark of Robbins. The winning pitcher was McFarland, now 2-3. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. The Harbor Whales, at 26-15, have now won 6 straight.

The Harbor Whales got a big hit from pinch hitter Terence Fisher. In the bottom of the sixth, Fisher smacked a 2-run home run off Long Island pitcher Horace McKenzie Jr.. It was his 7th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Harbor Whales were ahead, 2-1.

"Dan's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Mike Brown, the Harbor Whales manager.
