Long Island Slaps 7-0 Loss on Greenport
|
Long Island pitcher Julián Lucero had a large part in his team subduing the Greenport Harbor Whales, 7-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Lucero yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-1. With the win, Long Island has a record of 23-19. Greenport falls to 26-16.
The Ducks got a lift from center fielder Jonathan Barnett, who in the top of the third hit a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season put the Ducks on top, 4-0.
"Julián was able to execute his pitches," said Long Island manager Don Martin. "Simple as that."
