In a low-scoring contest, Long Island pitcher Jake Best was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. Best, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.

Long Island took the lead, 2-1, on Max Thompson's 8th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Ballard pitcher Ed Alvarado in the top of the seventh.

"I executed the game plan," said Best.
