Collier Pitches Gem as Beavers Beat Watford City, 7-0
|
The Ballard Beavers shut out the Watford City Trash Pandas, 7-0, behind the strong pitching of Steven Collier. Collier surrendered only 4 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 8.
Following the last out, Collier appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Watford City manager Mike Hunt, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken left-hander as the clubs left the field. Collier's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Trash Pandas skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Beavers press conference, Collier confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Collier said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Ballard manager Giddy Potts added.
On the year, Collier has worked 57 innings with 43 strikeouts en route to a 3-0 record and 3.00 ERA.
