Snowpeople Win, 1-0, at North Ft. Myers

North Ft. Myers got a big-time effort from pitcher Bob Smithley, but it wasn't enough to keep the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople from winning the game, 1-0. Smithley threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Steven Cowan closed out the game, earning his 12th save. Ellesmere Island is in 8th place in the Menard's Low A with a record of 22-27.
Ellesmere Island used a well-timed hit by Cristo González to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Snowpeople ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Said North Ft. Myers manager Felipe Palazzola: "We weren't able to do much."
