Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the North Ft. Myers Gators and Long Island Ducks.
Starting pitcher Chris Hamm gave the North Ft. Myers Gators a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Long Island Ducks, 2-1, at Ducks Park. North Ft. Myers is now 26-26, while Long Island is 28-24.
North Ft. Myers used the stroke of Roberto Vargo to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Gators ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Hamm told the North Ft. Myers Citizen.
