At The Igloo, the Long Island Ducks and Ellesmere Island Snowpeople were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The 3-hit performance of Shannon Miller, who is tied for 5th in the 3A- in doubles with 17, helped the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople beat the Long Island Ducks, 9-2. Maxwell Powers, the winning pitcher, is now 5-2. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 2.

Ellesmere Island center fielder Bob Ryan delivered a grand slam home run in the bottom of the first. Overall, he went 3 for 4, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and knocked in 5.

"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Don Martin.

With the win, Ellesmere Island goes to 29-27, while the Ducks fall to 31-25.
