Ducks Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
The Long Island Ducks picked up a win at Ducks Park, knocking off the Capital Hill Interns, 3-1. Starting pitcher Jesús Hernández was a big reason why. In 6 innings, Hernández surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Terry Scott picked up the save, his 10th.
Long Island catcher AHei Mikilana contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Ducks ahead, 3-1.
"Jesús was locating, throwing all of his pitches," said Long Island manager Don Martin. "He did a heck of a job."
With the win, Long Island upped its record to 33-25.
