Napanee got a big-time effort from pitcher Fred Boman, but it wasn't enough to keep the Tijuana Toros from winning the game, 2-1. Boman threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Leonard Dennis snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 5-4 on the season. Tijuana goes to 33-27, Napanee to 29-31.
Jorge Padilla's at-bat with one out in the top of the tenth was critical. The Tijuana right fielder hit a sacrifice fly, to put his team on top, 2-1. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
In postgame remarks, Padilla said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
