Julián Lucero, who is tied for 2nd in the 3A- in innings pitched with 90.0, imposed his will on the Interns from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the left-hander spearheaded the 6-1 Long Island triumph. The Ducks now own a record of 34-26.

The Ducks got a big at-bat from right fielder Stephen Appleby. For the game, Appleby went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Long Island a 4-0 lead.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Appleby.
