Ducks Grind Out 1-0 Win
|
Starting pitcher Larry St. John gave the Long Island Ducks a rock-solid effort. The Ft. Worth, Texas native helped his team defeat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 1-0, at Ducks Park. Long Island sits in third place in the Menard's Low A at 39-21.
Juan Pérez drove in one run for Long Island. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Pérez had a clutch at-bat. Facing Ellesmere Island hurler Jong-beom So, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," St. John said.
