The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople picked up a win at The Igloo, dropping the Ballard Beavers, 4-3. Maxwell Powers, who is tied for 4th in the 3A- with a 1.97 ERA, was the difference-maker. In 7 innings, Powers surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Miguel Sandoval recorded the save, his 5th.

The Beavers had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Snowpeople going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Sun-dong Wang came to the plate. Wang hit a run-scoring double on a 2-1 fastball from Ballard hurler Jeremy Foster. It was Wang's 13th double of the year.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Snowpeople," said Wang.

Ellesmere Island has now won 4 straight.
