Baby Blues Use Late Score to Top Express, 2-1
|
The Baby Blues faced a stiff challenge from Napanee pitcher Manny Mejía, but persevered to claim a win at Dylan Park. The final score was 2-1. Mejía went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Harald Berendsen, now 5-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 3. After today's action, Quebec City sits at 29-35; Napanee slips to 34-30.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Quebec City pinch hitter António Álvarez, facing Scott Bates, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Baby Blues the 2-1 win.
Quebec City manager Mauro Rangel commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
