Cobb Excels, But Snowpeople Win
|
Shady Side got a terrific game from third baseman Grant Cobb. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Ellesmere Island, 8-7. Cobb was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Desmond Dean picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Diego Manchego was tagged with the loss. Steven Cowan earned the save for Ellesmere Island, his 16th.
Mike Blake drove in one run against the Zoomies. With the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that put Ellesmere Island in front, 8-7.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Rodrige Margalha.
The Snowpeople saw their win-loss record go to 30-34. At the same time, the Zoomies fell to 36-28.
