White Walkers Score Late to Nip Stingers, 4-3
|
The Toledo Stingers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Mark Garland into a win. Instead, the Buffalo White Walkers prevailed, 4-3, in 10 innings. Garland threw 5.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Craig Culver, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Jerome Field got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Buffalo needed the clutch hitting of Iverson Allen to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the White Walkers on top, 4-3. For the game, Allen had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Toledo manager David Bunting.
The loss has the Stingers at 9-7.
