The Ballard Beavers picked up a win at Ducks Park, courtesy of Frank McConnell. The right-hander helped his team stop the Long Island Ducks, 3-0. In 7.1 innings, McConnell surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The save went to Lowell Nash, number 22 for him.
Alejandro Hernández had a big 2-run home run for the Beavers in the top of the sixth inning. With Ballard leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Vladmir Pafov and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Beavers on top, 3-0.
"Frank had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Ballard manager Giddy Potts.
The Beavers now have a mark of 42-32.
