Zoomies Stay Hot, Beat Express, 5-4
|
Despite a fine performance by second baseman Phil Brooks, the Napanee Express lost to the Shady Side Zoomies, 5-4. Brooks was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Jacob Napper. He tossed 107 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Diego Manchego closed the game out for Shady Side, earning his 5th save.
Shady Side used a well-timed hit by Charles Brown to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Zoomies ahead, 5-4. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it was important.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Brown told the Shady Side Today.
Shady Side has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
