Ducks Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Long Island Ducks picked up a win at The Igloo, dropping the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 5-4, in 10 innings. Jesús Hernández, who leads the 3A- in strikeouts with 91, was the difference-maker. The win went to Terry Scott in relief, making him now 2-6. Lee Jenkins took the loss for Ellesmere Island. Tim Manning, credited with the save, is now 4 for 5 in save opportunities.
Long Island used the hitting of Pierre Dubreuil to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Ducks on top, 5-4. For the game, Dubreuil had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Ellesmere Island manager Gary MacHardy said, following the tough loss.
The 4th-place Ducks improved to 45-36.
