McFarland Tosses 4-0 Shutout Against Ellesmere Island

It wasn't easy but the Greenport Harbor Whales made it look that way.
Starter Dan McFarland shut out the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Greenport Harbor Whales cruised to victory, 4-0. McFarland allowed only 1 hit and rang up 1 strikeout but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
In 16 starts this year, McFarland has posted 8 wins while suffering 5 losses. He has pitched 114 innings, allowed 98 hits, struck out 73 and has a 1.97 ERA.
