Due in large part to catcher Stanley Johnston, the Hollywood Shredders sunk the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 7-3. Johnston went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Bill Owens earned the win for Hollywood. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 1-1. Hollywood goes to 9-7.

Hollywood used the timely hitting of Robert Price to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Shredders on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We didn't play well enough to win," Northern Virginia skipper David Lister said.
