Greenport Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The 7-3 Greenport win over North Ft. Myers was due in large part to Will Caldwell. The Harbor Whales right fielder went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The Gators, now 38-50, have lost 5 straight.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Caldwell hit a cutter from Cody Thomas for a grand slam home run. The Harbor Whales, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Caldwell told the Greenport Daily.
