Pedro Paredes did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Ladue Rams from losing the game, 6-5, to the Long Island Ducks in 11 innings at Ballpark of Wellsville. Paredes went 1 for 2 with 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Long Island reliever Manny Rodríguez picked up the win. Robert Poynter, who is tied for 7th in the 3A- in saves with 18, took the loss for Ladue. After today's action, Long Island sits at 45-44; Ladue slips to 40-49.

Anthony Thompson found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the 11th. Facing Ladue hurler Robert Poynter, the 21-year-old first baseman hit a sacrifice fly. His 6th RBI of the season put the Ducks on top, 6-5.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Long Island field general Don Martin.
