Baby Lakers Use Late Surge to Win
|
Leonard Sheppard was masterful in helping the Bompton Baby Lakers take down the Quebec City Baby Blues, 4-1. Bompton reliever Daniel Valdés picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Carl van Bekenes was saddled with the loss. Earning his 27th save of the year was Zhi-jan Wu.
Arthur Cantrell, who leads the 3A- in home runs with 17, took Quebec City hurler Carl van Bekenes deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Baby Lakers on top, 3-1. In all, Cantrell had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Bompton manager Tyrone Poole said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
The first-place Baby Lakers have a one-game lead in their division.
