Long Island starter Mark García had a strong outing against the Tijuana Toros at Ducks Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-2 win. García went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-12. The win gives the Ducks a record of 29-64.
Long Island right fielder Raúl Palmeiro contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a knuckle curve into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 52nd hit of the season and put the Ducks ahead, 5-1.
"Mark is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Long Island manager Kevin Montgomery.
