Greenport Grabs 5-0 Road Win
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Greenport Harbor Whales and Capital Hill Interns.
Greenport used a superb performance from starting pitcher Steve Moore to down the Capital Hill Interns, 5-0. In 7.1 innings, Moore surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Luis Tirado nailed down the save.
Greenport took the lead, 5-0, on Ricardo Díaz's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Capital Hill pitcher Largo Dorso in the top of the ninth.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Greenport manager Mike Brown. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The win gives Greenport a season record of 56-37.
