Octopi Handled by North Ft. Myers, 4-1
|
The North Ft. Myers Gators dealt the Ogallala Octopi a 4-1 loss at Dodge Field. Justin Wallace was the star on offense. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Morris. He tossed 90 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. Chris Pate recorded the save for North Ft. Myers, his 4th of the season.
Jon Turner had a big run-scoring triple for the Gators in the bottom of the third inning. With North Ft. Myers leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from António Calderón, who is tied for 9th in the 3A- in complete games with 1, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gators ahead, 2-0.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Turner.
The Gators raised their record to 43-52.
