Rocketeers Best Flamingos in Pitching Duel
|
Starting pitcher Valentín Buitrugo was a major factor in the 2-0 MSL Seattle Rocketeers triumph over the MSL Las Vegas Flamingos. Buitrugo got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Trent Harris closed it out for his 1st save.
Kalevi Valkki had a big solo home run for the Rocketeers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With MSL Seattle leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Paco González and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Rocketeers on top, 2-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Valkki.
With the win, MSL Seattle boosts its record to 1-3.
