|
Mississippi got a decent performance from pitcher Robert Moody, but it wasn't enough to beat the Dayton Dirty Reds. Dayton won the Magnolia Park contest, 5-4. Moody threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was António Haritos. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Peter O'Farrell was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.
Dayton used the timely hitting of Damon Joseph to capture the win. The center fielder socked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Dayton manager David Dodds.
Dayton, now 19-35, holds down 9th place in the Silver League.
