Patriots Win Nail-Biter in 10
The MSL Boston Patriots defeated the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids in 10 innings, 7-6, in part because of shortstop Héctor Pineda. Pineda went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 for the Patriots. Randy Hood got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Patriots raised their record to 4-4.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 18-year old center fielder Alois Scholde had a chance to be the hero. MSL Northern Virginia pitcher Pedro Rocha wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Scholde hit a sacrifice fly. The Patriots had themselves a thrilling win.

"We battled our tails off to get this win," said MSL Boston manager Arvi Fufachev.
